Music and Choir
The music at St. James is a dynamic program that
brings many people together to worship through music. Our goal is to
support the seasonal lectionary and to help deliver the message of the
gospel to the congregation through weekly musical offerings. We
currently have a very talented and dedicated adult choir that meets
every Thursday evening at 7:30 from about Labor Day through Memorial
Day. A youth choir, formed through the Sunday school and Youth Group,
rehearses and performs for special services at various times throughout
the year.
Acolytes
The acolyte ministry is one of the oldest in the
church, dating to the earliest years, and is open to any youth in grades
7 through 12. An acolyte performs a variety of assignments, including
leading the processional and recessional by carrying a cross or torch
and assisting at the altar during the Eucharist. Acolytes attend a
mandatory training session and are assigned to serve approximately twice
a month, primarily at the 10:30 service (9:00 during the summer).
Outreach
We are dedicated to helping support St. James
Parish as well as those in need within our community. Supported by
proceeds from our annual auction and quilt raffle, Outreach is central
to our ministry.
Youth Group
Open to all youth in the community, the Youth Group is an opportunity
for our young people starting in grade 7 to gather, to have fun, and to
do outreach such as holding a Christmas party for the Sullivan Road
Group Home residents and providing Easter baskets and gift baskets for
the nursing home.
